Matthew is a founding partner of Carden Dotzler Hammond, PLLC, and also serves as Town Justice for the Town of Camillus, New York. He concentrates his practice on criminal defense, DWI defense and traffic defense, along with a specialized focus in defending white collar and drug offenses. He is actually the lead attorney of The New York Traffic Ticket Lawyers which handles a variety of traffic violation cases across central New York. He regularly represents clients who are charged with criminal, DWI and traffic offenses in Onondaga County Court, Syracuse City Court, and other courts throughout Central New York.
Before entering private practice, Matthew served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office for seven years. There, he successfully prosecuted hundreds of felony-level white collar crimes in the Economic Fraud and Financial Crimes Bureau, including embezzlement, forgery, identity theft, tax evasion, counterfeiting and welfare fraud crimes, as well as a variety of misdemeanor and traffic-related offenses, including the prosecution of drug and narcotic offenses. At the District Attorney’s Office, Matthew spent countless hours in the courtroom perfecting his trial advocacy in complex criminal cases, working closely with local law enforcement, forensic auditors and financial institutions.
Matthew earned his Law Degree (J.D.) and Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from the State University of New York at Buffalo. His knowledge, training and litigation experience gives him the unique ability to zealously represent and counsel his clients in a wide array of criminal defense and business related matters. Matthew is a member of the New York State Defender’s Association where he received a Trial Skills certification.
